Chapters and Affinity Groups

nybuffs1

Celebrate your Forever Buff pride as alumni and students by connecting with dozens of Buff groups across the country. The Alumni Association has more than 50 chapters and affinity groups, all intended to bring the CU-Boulder experience closer to you.

Local chapters host a variety of events from family-friendly outings to Buff watch parties at the best local bar. As an alum, get involved by recruiting top students in your area or participating in volunteer opportunities with other Buffs. As a student, you can network with alums and share your experiences with prospective students through events like Senior Sendoffs.

If you are moving to a new area, make sure to look up your local chapter for advice on anything from the best schools to the greatest local coffee.

Program and Event Planning

Many chapters may be interested in a cooperative effort between the chapter and the university and/or Alumni Association to help promote and/or participate in a particular program or event where the venue resides within the chapter’s area. The Alumni Association provides e-mail communication assistance to alumni in the area to help promote the event. A two-week lead time is appreciated and is handled on a case-by-case basis depending on the program topic and staff availability. Programming for the regional chapters depends partly on opportunities where staff from the university and/or Alumni Association might be traveling to the area. It may be possible to build a program around staff or faculty who might be visiting the area. In this event, the Alumni Association would be in touch with you to help select a venue for the event and to encourage local alums to attend.

Scholarships

Raising funds for scholarships is just one activity that clubs initiate and promote. The scholarship cycle ends each year in the spring, which is when students are selected and notified. After a chapter raises scholarship funds, the Alumni Association provides matching funds – up to $2,000 per club. The Alumni Association promotes the scholarship to the students, collects applications and then sends them to the local chapters.
